From curiosity to connection: Meet Our Intern Flavio

Today we are introducing you Flavio, our intern from NHL Stenden, and giving you a glimpse into his experience at Bridges by Mentors. We asked him a few questions, here’s what he shared:

  1. Your first encounter with Bridges by Mentors
I had heard about this project quite a few times, whether it was from the coordinators giving introduction presentations or the pamphlets that were everywhere around school. That being said, I never took part on the project as a mentor and now that I am coordinating the project I am learning quite a lot from the mentors and everyone that is part of the project.
  1. Your role in the project
My job is quite fun as an intern. I enjoy it a lot because I am the spokesperson for every single student that joins the BBM project. I coordinate with the SEMS students that are our trainers on what the best times are for the rooms to be booked, or when is the besti time to organize the events. I took part for the first time last week in one of our cultural events. We went to Dekema State where not only our mentors get to see how very rich Frisians used to live but also met amazing people that showed us around.
  1. Mentoring in three words
    Story, guidance, resilience

What stands out from Flavio’s experience is how quickly stepping into a coordination role has turned into a real learning journey: not just about organizing a project, but about listening, connecting, and growing through the people around him.
