JYO’s Training Experience in Bulgaria!

In the summer of 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the “Mentoring Without Borders” training workshop, held in the serene mountain town of Pamporovo, Bulgaria.

Surrounded by nature and disconnected from the hustle of daily life, the workshop created an atmosphere of genuine connection and reflection. Living and learning in this remote forest setting with shared meals, collaborative projects, and late-night conversations, fostered a deep sense of community. It wasn’t just about acquiring skills; it was about building relationships, developing trust, and learning how to hold space for others. That communal spirit became the foundation for meaningful engagement and personal growth.

What struck me most was the accessibility of the program. With financial barriers removed, participants came from incredibly diverse cultural, social, and professional backgrounds. This diversity enriched every interaction and broadened my perspective on what mentorship can look like across different contexts. I found myself not only learning from trainers but also from the stories and lived experiences of my peers. That exchange reminded me that true mentorship isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about listening, sharing, and evolving together.

This experience didn’t just inspire me; it shifted my mindset. I left Pamporovo with a clearer sense of what it means to be a mentor: someone who empowers others through empathy, presence, and authenticity. It taught me that mentorship is not a role confined to formal structures; it’s a way of being, rooted in curiosity, humility, and a commitment to growth—both mine and others.

My time in Pamporovo had a profound and lasting impact. I’m truly grateful for the experience, and I now feel more ready and motivated to grow into the kind of mentor who helps others find their voice, navigate challenges, and realize their potential.
