Have you ever wondered what Bridges by Mentors looks like in the Netherlands?

Check out this video and get inspired by the students participating this semester as they discover Dutch culture.

Our Frisian Spring Fair was an interactive event where international students explored Frisian traditions. We built windmills out of recycled milk boxes, crafted origami tulips, played shuffleboard, decorated traditional Dutch stroopwafels, and enjoyed many other activities.

Did you notice our students emerging from the little shed? We visited Dekema State, a house seemingly frozen in time, where each room tells the story of the families who once lived there. Of course, this isn’t the actual house but just a garden shed, did we trick you?

Our students were fascinated by the portraits dating back to 1587 and the original furnishings, making it feel like walking through a movie set. We couldn’t miss out on tea and the traditional Frisian cake called oranjekoek. Have you ever tried oranjekoek?

With lots of laughter and fun, we’ve concluded the discovery stage and are now moving on to mentoring our local youth. Stay tuned for exciting impressions and feedback from the Dutch youth!
